Consultation on Ethical Questions

Consultation on Ethical Questions

This consultation service is open for consultation on any sort of harassment or infringement of the Linguistic Society of Japan Ethics Statement (including such acts as plagiarism, piracy, or inappropriate citation) in connection with any events involving the LSJ (such as biannual meetings, summer institutes, or Gengo Kenkyu).
First, please contact the consultation service by email at (lsj@nacos.com) providing a description of the problem being presented for consultation, following the format provided.
At this point, please do not concretely name the person you are accusing of an ethics violation. If there are members of the Ethics Committee of the Linguistic Society of Japan you would prefer to have participate in the consultation, please designate one or two names (members are listed under “Committees and Organization” on the LSJ web site).
When the persons responsible for your consultation have been selected, they will contact you directly by email, so please be sure to provide your contact information and affiliation, if any. The members of the Ethics Committee and all related parties have a duty to maintain confidentiality concerning those requesting consultation and matters on which consultation is sought,
Please describe the matter on which consultation is sought in as much detail as possible (when, where, what took place, etc.) and prepare supporting evidence. Evidence may include such things as electronic mail, faxes, recorded telephone messages, and photographs. If there are witnesses, it would be a good idea to ask them to testify.
Urgent situations arising during biannual meetings or summer institutes should be brought directly to the attention of the meeting or institute organizing body.
Please understand that, depending on the content of the request for consultation, there may be circumstances under which a designated member of the Ethics Committee may not be able to participate or problems to which the LSJ cannot respond.
