LSJ’s Kuroda Fund (report)
The Linguistic Society of Japan (LSJ) ran a fund-raising campaign for LSA’s Yuki Kuroda Student Fellowship Fund last year and raised 1,157,000 yen including LSJ’s own donation of 100,000 yen. The donations were sent to the LSA Fund on January 26th, 2018. We would like to thank all members who generously donated the money as well as those who helped us to raise it.
Donation to the LSJ Kuroda Fund
The Kuroda Fellowship Fund was established based on a $50,000 donation from Professor Kuroda’s family, with a goal of raising the total amount to $85,000 (approximately 9.5 million yen), including donations from the general public. I’m doing it. Funds collected in this way will be used primarily to provide support to students from Japan who are participating in the Linguistic Society of America’s summer institute (LSA Summer Institute) to cover the various costs associated with participating in the course (travel expenses, accommodation expenses, tuition fees, etc.) Respecting Professor Kuroda’s belief that his starting point as a linguist was the summer course he attended before enrolling at MIT, priority will be given to students who are planning to study linguistics in the United States.
